Martial Arts Class

WELCOME TO OUR COMMUNITY

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Self development through martial arts.

Balance Martial Arts, is not a typical martial arts school. We believe that everyone can achieve and benefit from the discipline, fitness, coordination, skills in self-defence, and sense of achievement that martial arts training provides.  Our training is non-competitive and holistic. We specialise in providing inclusive martial arts training and personal development for young people with behavioural, cognitive, social or emotional challenges.

Balance Martial Arts is a member school of the World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association

SELF-DEFENCE

Learn how to respond effectively to an opponent.

First and foremost we are a martial arts training organisation with a focus on developing the skills, awareness, confidence, and self-assurance needed for effective self-defence.

Students of Balance Martial Arts training classes progress through a comprehensive traditional syllabus for Taekwondo and Hapkido. Opportunities to grade and achieve promotion through ten graded belt levels provide all students with an understanding of their achievement and helps them to set goals.

FITNESS

Become more flexible, active and coordinated.

Balance Martial Arts training is designed to build from the current capability of each individual student. The instructors work to extend the base fitness and flexibility of each class member. Our goal is for self-improvement and we have had particular success with students with some physical difficulties (Parkinson's, Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy,  Acquired Brain Injury, localized injuries).

COMMUNITY

Providing an inclusive sense of belonging for all.

Our organization is devoted to developing a sense of community through inclusive service. We welcome students with behavioural and cognitive difficulties and presentations. Our students find a positive sense of self and identity through Balance Martial Arts. So if you are neuro-atypical (e.g., ADHD, ASD, ODD, ID, and gifted), you are welcome and we hold great expectations for progress with us.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we meet and train, and pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging. We note that the lands of our training centres have always been sites for teaching and community.

We respect and support all people from whichever background, whatever capability, neurodiversity or gender identity. We acknowledge that we are all on a journey together.
